Presenter biography

Dr Bill Loveday

Dr Bill Loveday is Director of Monitored Medicines Unit (MMU) at Queensland Health. MMU manages and administers QScript, Queensland’s real-time prescription monitoring program, and along with other Queensland Health units undertakes regulatory compliance activities in regards to the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 and Medicines and Poisons (Medicines Regulation) 2021 in relation to certain health practitioners use of scheduled medicines. Bill is a registered psychologist and undertook his doctoral research into the study of examining doctor shopping behaviour for prescription opioids in the Queensland population and he is a perpetual student of contemporary regulatory practice.
