Course Overview
We strive to provide our patients with solutions that are life-long. Failing this, we want to provide the longest lasting, best value solution that is both functional and aesthetic. With excellent options available from Implant Dentistry, there has been increasing levels of scrutiny of endodontic therapy outcomes. Increasing levels of scrutiny of implant outcomes has in turn followed this. But is science assessing the correct factors? Does the evidence exist to allow us to make an appropriate judgement on either modality?
In this lecture we will investigate what evidence exists for various treatment options and consider alternative theories on what matters when it comes to providing a positive long-term outcome for our patients. We will also look at a number of non-endodontic factors to see how these may impact on our ability to provide a good long-term outcome in both endodontic or implant therapy. The currently accepted technical aspects of endodontic treatment will be critically appraised and real-life examples will be presented to challenge the way we assess treatment options.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will learn how to:
- Understand patient centred outcomes and why they matter
- Understand the factors that affect endodontic outcome
- Understand the factors that affect implant outcome.
