Course Overview
Have you ever looked on in envy at machined crown preparations in lectures and textbooks and thought “I wonder how they do that”?
Dr Lewis will share his knowledge on principles of tooth preparation for Layered zirconia crown, Emax crown and Emax onlay, Metal Ceramic crowns and Full Gold crown and Monolithic zirconia. Dr Lewis will demonstrate his experience, techniques and recommended tooling to produce superb crown preparations that will be the envy of your colleagues. Participants can apply these skills in 3 practical exercise sessions on the day.
Does your neck and back ache at the end of long clinical sessions?
He will also show how good posture and coordinated assistance can reduce wear and tear your back and neck, and increase your enjoyment of dentistry. As this is a intensive practical course spaces are limited.

Presenter biography
Dr Michael Lewis
BDS (Hons) DClinDent (Pros) MRACDS (Pros) FPFA
Dr. Michael Lewis graduated from undergraduate dentistry in 2003 with honours and completed his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics at the University of Sydney in 2010. During his Specialisation program at Westmead Hospital he received extensive training in aesthetic and implant dentistry, conventional crown and bridge prosthetics with a particular interest in fixed-tooth replacement. He is the proud recipient of the John H Wilson prize for proficiency in Prosthodontics and the Campbell Harry Graham prize in Prosthetic Dentistry. He is deeply passionate about microscope dentistry and has used the dental microscope exclusively for all aspects of dental treatment since 2016.
In 2013 Michael moved to Brisbane to join Dr Bill Bruce in private practice. Michael is heavily involved in continuing education, and frequently speaks to local study groups around Brisbane. In addition he is also blessed with casual teaching roles for the University of Queensland and The University of Sydney. Michael is the immediate past president of the Queensland branch of the Australian Prosthodontic Society and Vardiman Dental Study Clubs.
