For Members who, for a substantial period, has rendered valuable service to the Association or to the dental profession.

Life Membership

The highest honour ADAQ can bestow. For Members who have rendered exceptionally distinguished service to the Association or to the dental profession

Honorary Membership

For any person who has rendered honourable or substantial service to the dental profession, in any part of the world and in any of the sciences allied to dentistry.

NON-MEMBERS

Award of Merit

For any person other than a dentist who, for a substantial period, has rendered exceptionally distinguished service to the Association or to the dental profession.

Award Criteria

MEMBER AWARDS AND HONOURS

  1. Distinguished Service Award - Awarded to a nominated Member who, for a substantial period, has rendered distinguished service to the Association or to the dental profession. 
  2. Service Medallion - Awarded to a nominated Member who, for a substantial period, has rendered valuable service to the Association or to the dental profession. 
  3. Life Membership -  Financial Members can submit the name of another Member, who has rendered exceptionally distinguished service to the Association or to the dental profession for consideration at the Annual General Meeting. This award is the highest honour ADAQ can bestow.


NON- MEMBER AWARDS AND HONOURS

  1. Award of Merit - Awarded to any person other than a dentist, nominated by a financial Member, and who, for a substantial period, has rendered exceptionally distinguished service to the Association or to the dental profession. 
  2. Honorary Membership - can be awarded to any person , nominated by a current Member, who has rendered honourable or substantial service to the dental profession, in any part of the world and in any of the sciences allied to dentistry.

  • Monday 26 June 2023 - Nominations open
  • Friday 28 July 2023 - Nominations close 

Eligibility Requirements

  • A current ADAQ membership is required for the Distinguished Service Award, Service Medallion, Life Membership
  • The nominee cannot be a current ADAQ Councillor or Member of an ADAQ Committee
  • The nominee has not received the award previously
  • A member can be renominated if not awarded
  • Nominations are subject to assessment against award criteria.

     

Nomination Process

The awards process is confidential: it is recommended the nominee is not informed they are being nominated.

The nomination should include details of why you are nominating and what is your relationship or connection with the nominee. Please consider potential conflict of interest issues before making a nomination.

Nominations should be sufficiently detailed and include: 

  • current curriculum vitae, 
  • information on publications and original research of significance authored or co-authored by nominee; 
  • description of contributions, projects or activities; of outstanding skills in one or more dentistry fields, significant contribution to dentistry and the oral health of Queenslanders, or to ADAQ through direct involvement or substantial donations, and/or of community involvement
  • proof of the above, such as pictures, media articles, testimonials. 
  • Nominators must be available for contact by the Awards and Honours Committee and answer further questions about their nomination. 

Selection Process

  • Nominations are reviewed by the Awards and Honours Committee, who recommend nominees to Council for approval 
  • The decision by Council on approving awards is final 
  • The awards of life membership and honorary membership must be voted on by ADAQ members at the annual general meeting to be held on Thursday 23 November .
     

Award Presentation and Announcements

  • The presentation/s will take place at either the Annual General Meeting or Clinic Day (dependent on the availability of recipient)
  • ADAQ will announce the recipients in publications either print, online or both.
